Born in the United Kingdom, Stella Moran grew up and was educated in England. Straight out of school, she started working for a global insurance company, eventually moving into Human Resources where she developed a long, rewarding career. She held several positions in HR, from recruiting and training roles to management. After 12 years, her job took her to Charlotte, North Carolina. The common denominator throughout has been that Stella’s positions have all been people-oriented, working with and helping others.
Stella was exposed to alcoholism from an early age as several close family members struggled for many years with the addiction. She tried in vain to help her loved ones during a time when “Rehab” and “Intervention” were unheard of. She has experienced how difficult it is for families to navigate addiction and alcoholism alone, even though they have their loved ones’ best interests at heart. She has seen first-hand the damage that drugs and alcohol inflict upon the individual and the family unit as a whole.
In recovery herself, Stella has managed to break the cycle that has plagued her family. She made the decision to move into the field of addiction and recovery and has worked in admissions for a treatment center and a substance use crisis helpline. Stella’s personal and professional experience has led her to continue her passion to help others in her role with Family First.
